Published Writing

I spent several years writing as a freelancer for various publications, both print and online. I thought I’d include a few articles on this website.

“Hip-Hot.” The Huntsville Times, 2004. Before I returned home from school in Alabama, I wrote the first story on the city’s hip-hop scene for the local paper. I didn’t choose the headline!

“King of These Streets.” Urbanology Magazine, 2005. I wrote a piece on Toronto basketball legend Vidal Massiah after he won back-to-back Nike Battlegrounds King of Toronto titles.

“Big Smooth.”, 2006. While covering the Toronto Raptors for the 2005-06 season for this Canadian basketball website, I wrote this piece on Charlie Villanueva.

“Natural Progression.” Urbanology Magazine, 2006. This profile about west coast hip-hop group Jurassic 5 was one of my favourite joints to work on. They were a great interview.

“Where Da Party At?” Sway Magazine, 2008. Here’s a story about the evolution of Toronto nightlife in the 2000’s, when promoters were coming up with dope concepts for new parties. Again, I didn’t choose the title!
